How does the role of technology change the teaching learning environment? How does it influence me as a student and as a future teacher?

THE ADVENT OF TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION

    It was about 19th century that technology education had begun. The year 1974 was the first introduction of personal computer(PC). However, it wasn’t until the 1980s that digital technology made its mark on education. This was a
 decade when computers went from an experimental technology to a mass-market consumer product. That shift was reflected in schools, many of which invested in a single computer for basic learning applications. 

    In the advent of the World Wide Web it gave a glimpse into what computers were capable of. Publicly available from 1993, it facilitated the use of search engines and email on a regular basis. In addition, several teachers before were using "xerox" machine or photocopiers to multiply the reading materials and examination booklets to be used by the students. Some teachers were also using overhead projectors to display their lessons, and those were considered also as technology in education.


THE VITALITY OF TECHNOLOGY TO EDUCATION


    Technology is vital nowadays. Teacher need to adopt new teaching strategies in dealing with students with the help of technology. It has impacted almost every aspect of life today, and education is no exception. The COVID-19 pandemic was the best proof why technology or online education is important in teaching and learning. Gone are those days that children or learners in far flung area could not attend their classes. Technology is everywhere, anywhere. With the use of mobile phones, tablet, PC, or laptops through internet even mobile data, they will no longer missed their classes and assignments. With the help of GOOGLE, it made the lives of the teachers and learners lot more easier.


THE ADVANTAGES OF TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION

    The effective use of digital learning tools in classrooms can increase student engagement, help teachers improve their lesson plans, and facilitate personalized learning. It also helps students build essential 21st-century. skills. Technology can benefit education in many ways. From helping students learn in new and exciting ways, developing communication and teamworking skills or improving accessibility, teachers can use technology to adapt learning to each student’s needs.- @Rocco_Avantis - Educational Specialist, Avantis Education 

    It can help the teachers create exciting activities, making visual illustrations clearer and in creative way than what it seems in the book and it can also grabs learners' attention. 


THE DISADVANTAGES OF TECHNOLOGY FOR STUDENTS

    Technology could be a distraction for students most especially when used inappropriately. Relationship or the bond of teachers to learners could be lost through technology. Unreliable sources could possibly confuse the learners in making their activities. AI or Artificial Intelligence generated answers of the students may be common reason for incompetent products of learning. And some learners may be able to disconnect from class due to technology dependency. 





    Though the advancement of teaching lessons and strategies are present in the classroom, technology cannot replace the way a teacher impacted to their learners. It is just a machinery or a tool for a teacher to elaborate more his or her lessons. The learner learns from the teacher with the help of technology. And that should be the sole importance of technology in learning.

    The role of technology has greatly change the teaching learning environment through utilizing it into a form of learning. It increases interactivity and making education more fun and interesting, it also provides access to information and resources easily, it also made communication and collaboration between teachers to students and students to peers. More so, it is easy to tackle and discuss online for it is accessible and flexible. 





HOW THE  ROLE OF TECHNOLOGY INFLUENCE ME AS A FUTURE TEACHER

    Technology has impacted me in so many ways, through enrolling Professional Education, I had discovered multiple ways to use technology in engaging to my future students.
It has provided me teaching tools, resource, opportunities, interactive lessons that better meet the needs of my students and it can help me improve my teaching skills in the near future.

LEARNINGS OF ICT

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) can impact student learning when teachers are digitally literate and understand how to integrate it into curriculum. Schools use a diverse set of ICT tools to communicate, create, disseminate, store, and manage information. In some contexts, ICT has also become integral to the teaching-learning interaction, through such approaches as replacing chalkboards with interactive digital whiteboards, using students’ own smartphones or other devices for learning during class time, and the “flipped classroom” model where students watch lectures at home on the computer and use classroom time for more interactive exercises.
